have you got the spacer on the back gearbox mount or not?
if not.
muppetsport solution, worked on the morris machine anyway.
remove linkage from car. the bit you attach to the rod that goes to your gear lever in the car has a peg that the plastic bar attaches on to. this you need to straighten the top bit so its the same as the bottom part. it has a kink in it where the placcy bar joins on. then, what i had to do was remove the grommit where gear rod goes through the bulk head.
any of that make any sense? i got a 6speed linkage to make in a week or so, lol, so will no doubt be fuckin on with that for a few goes

with the aid of pictures i could make it clearer. alas, i have no pictures, lol. doh.
its hard to explain. someone must have a pic of it somehwere.
you know the 2 bits where the plastic top bar clip onto???. like 2 knuckles kinda? if its still in the car, its the left hand side one furthest from gearbox you need to striaghten.

pic 3 morris, see that part of the linkage that goes upwatds and has a kink in it. flatten it to match the bottom bit. and also in that pic, see the grommit, get rid of it. weight saving and that

its the 3rd pic down. on the far left of the pic you can see a rubber grommit. get rid of it. if you follow along the linkage from the grommit, you can see a part that sticks up where the plastic bar attaches to. it goes up at an angle, then straightens off when it gets to the top. make the top straightened bit the same as the bottom as it catches the steering rack.
you dig?
