What is it with all this 'weather is too hot' shit?
In most (read all) big time sports the athletes train at altitude and in heat...now we have sven yapping on about being 'prepared' in the last 5 days for the conditions.
Lets just hope its raining next sat then
tbh it was 36celcius, that like 100f, mad hot

Im not disagreeing with those posts.
It just seems year in, year out this same old lame excuse seems to be coughed up when we play in competitions against the likes of any side that reside nearer to the equator than us.
36 deg C? yeah thats hot.....but not 'that' hot. The excuses were made on the grounds of fluid degridation, and were made by sven last week. Ie 'we will be concentrating on the heat and the needs of the players to play in hot conditions'
What happens? our captain is puking up.
Hardly good preparation IMO.

have to say well done to England for getting to the 1/4 finals without really playing that well in any of there games..
hard one next though, even though portugal have a few players out..
Is it just me or are England boring to watch? joe cole sometimes lightens the pitch up though..
England got a good chance though..

i seriously think the heat takes the edge off the game, no excuses it was the same for both teams, just england were a but better to capitalise

really, he made about 5 tackles and 5 passes all game.
I DO think he is the answer there, but just didnt have a good game.
Still, I think England can go on and win the WC without a problem...depending on if Sven decides to keep changing th tem each week!!!!

Oh come on here,
In the grand scheme of things, with all the countries playing, 36 degrees isnt that hot.
Using the heat issue when playing against sides from nearer the equator is a joke tbh. We've had time to adjust, we just haven't.
Plain stupid.
In my job ive seen people (males) doing 12 hour days digging trenches in 50+ degrees heat.
Case rested really?

Once again Beckham did fuck all in open play...YES he scored the winning goal...but its a shame that another poor performance will be masked by his goal...
IMO if Lennon would have played the 90 mins then we would have been a lot more comfortable and caused them more problems...and would have scored more goals..

idealy next game, id like to see lampard rested, and crouch start, if rooney had somebody to win thed ball for him who can play a decent ball in like crouch can we would have stormed them today. 4-4-2 is our best option imo

he did nothing remarkable in open play, but he did all the simple things right, his corners were awful though.

Yes Lampard deserves to be dropped...he has played poorly now for a while...next game my team would be
Robinson
Hargreaves Terry Ferdinand Cole
Lennon Gerrard Carrick Cole
Rooney Crouch

He didnt do anything worth of note all game bar the goal...
The only plus side he gives is his set pieces and they were terrible today...we cant carry him every game on the reliance that maybe once in a while he will put a good cross (which he never gets in any decent position to do anymore) or score a free kick...

Could agree with that 100%. You wont see the best of Rooney with him up on his own. But you also wont see the best of Gerrard playing defensive (and I think he is England best player, and that includes bringing Rooney into play). Both Beckham and Lampard have bene poor so far and both are stopping the two best players playing in the best way they can.

Beckham offers nothing...
Set pieces...he has scored one in three years. Gerrard or Lampard could do that. Plus in the last few games his balls into the box have been very, very, poor.
Defending...he played against Sweden and made ZERO tackles. That is a fact. So that left Carra playing RB on his own against one of the best wingers in the WC, Freddie Ljundberd (sp?!)
