Exactly, Beckham is a brand, he wasn't at one point, but he sold himself out and Madrid have made a hell of a lot of money just because their right winger is a good looking chap!
So fair play to Madrid for that.

how did he sell himself out, dont think he had a choice to leave man utd, either that or fergie woudlnt paly him.
fair play to beckham he had the choice to live his life once so why shoudl he restrict himself to footie adn not experience all of the other achievements he has done.
given that he was still an awesome player, and could of achieved alot more if he had a better team around him at certain stages of his career.
i will always remeber him being a passionate superb footballer who put his heart adn soul into his football both at club level and international.
fuckin legend in my eyes!!!! achieved so much in life and shoudl be an idol to a lot of people to show what you can achieve if you want to!!

No doubt he's passionate every pro footballer has to be or they would just settle for sunday league pub status, so passion is in everyone's game.
I just don't think he has the footballing attributes to be one of the best on the planet.

see i can name shitlaods of players in just the prem who u can tell dont give a shit and just want money.
to be honest i think it was blatanly obvious of the those form the world cup when we got knocked out.
footballing attributes are there and the stats say so imo.
i also think what his fellow players around him say about it clearly suggest an all time great.
but this all my opinion, and i hate it when people get on his back. not saying you did jizinho just in general

I know what you mean, I think Beckham's set pieces were great, no doubts.
I break it all down and piece things together, and I ask myself things like this before I make comments.......

- who is better than Beckham at passing, and I'll list certain players who i think are better

- who is a midfielder the same as Beckham who scores more goals

- who can cross a ball just as good

- who can do things Beckham can't (aaron lennon can skip plas left backs and set something up, I don't think Beckham takes people on Ive never seen it yet)

and then I think about Beckham forfeiting his place on the right hand side for England and moving more central, but then you have Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves, Carrick, Joe Cole who all do that position as good if not better.

yeah im guessin he has def come to the end of his career in a way where he prob was one of the best midfeilders in the world say 2000-2002.
just a shame that he gets so much bad press in my eyes.

Most of the bad press he gets is from trashy journalists though! People with half an ounce of a brain know what a good footballer he is, they also know theres players out there that are equally as good if not better than him. Being the England captain put extra limelight on him.

Giggs and Yorke can produce free kicks and corners equally as effective as Beckham.

Ste Gerrard is a far better ALL ROUND player than David Beckham ever will be, cellebrity status has nothing to do with being a good footballer

Also...Im glad Gerrard wont reach the celebrity heights of Beckham. Wouldnt want to run the risk of him thinking he is bigger than the club, as no one is.

Footballing wise....well Im sure if the two were available and the choice was over footballing ability then the majority would pick Gerrard.

the left wing he played against Chelsea. Upfront along Crouch he played for some games last season for Liverpool and has done with England. The RB he played for Liverpool during the Champions League final.

Young? He is only 26. Lifted the Champions League when he was 24 and was immense for atleast the 2 years before that.

RVD for real = goal a game
Morientes for Valencia - 5 in 5, Goal a game.

I'm not saying Morientes is better, or on a par with RVD, it's just that so far this season, the man is on fire!

Our forwards always score when they move away from us, and our keepers always come good aswell

Mori was more suited to the Spanish League though, was never going to cut it in the Prem, pitty as he is a great guy and would of liked him to be a success with us.
