Few reasons

all the brands arent premium manufactuers like ford and vauxhall, IMO as there slightly less busy, meaning usally you can get a higher qulaity of work as your not worried about banging 50 cars a day out, also the tech from my expirence are higher trained, and arent so bonus orientated, so dont rush you to look up stuff so they can knock the hours out

The training scheams are very very good, all based up and Wynbush, MK for all 4 brands

if you master ETKA, which is the parts system for looking the actual parts then you have the knowledge to work for Seat, Audi, VW and skoda, as well as Porsche who use PET, which is identical as well, there no other group of manufactuers to my knowledge that you can do that with, its gives you an excelent way to move up positions whilst never actully having to learn anything dramtically new

This isnt the case everywhere. My salary (without comm.) is more than my age.

What the hell?

I'm on my placement year from my uni degree... Working in IT and I'm on around 16k a year... which I think is poor.

I have no money at all left over, I spend it so quick and am currently living at home too!!! I could not work for less than that amount if I wasn't living at home.

When I graduate uni I'm gonna be aiming for a Software Developing Junior role... about 24-25k starting wage. Then move to a proper Software Developing job, aiming for around £28-£35k within a year or two.

Cupra Cunt, I like that, has a sort of ring to it!

Did I?! Sorry, I didn't mean to be. Did Mark say anything? I'm not too fussed really, I'm enjoying driving around in the Altea at the moment! Any idea what engine is in it though as it barely moves?!

Oh and send me the pics of my car in bits please.

depending on what you know finding an emplyer to take you on semi-skilled as a mechanic might be an option, the mone wont be too bad, it wont be great but you'll be able to live on it, BUT i'd advise getting into car sales, but its a hard thing to do,

no matter what position tho, i advise you make up a c.v. with all relevant info for motortrade employers and a covering letter and send it to as many local dealerships as possible, i was an apprentice mechanic i took the job as i really wanted to work with cars as i enjoyed working on my own, but its a different kettle of fish servicing someone elses cars everyday and doing m.o.t. repairs, good stuff like engine changes and that are few and far between, its mundain and the last thing you'll wanna do at night/weekend is go home and work on your own car, so your own projects will get boring,

ive given up mechanics and im gtting into I.T. and i find myself more interested in getting a projec now than i did when i was a mechanic,

plus the pay inst rubbish but its not good, if you compare it to what the garage charges for your work,

garage charges customer £60+ per hour, you'll be damn luckty to see a tenner of that an hour,

i'd advise against mechanics but at the end of the day its up to the individual person,

I never had a problem with the parts Gods at the last place I worked at.

Lovely chaps, apart from one who was a silly cock who was unilaterally disliked/mocked, including by his own parts colleagues.

best bet would be to go into a VAG dealer i think

Now there's a familiar image.

Created that scenario more times than I care to mention.

Christ on a bike Paul!

All that dough for sitting still on yer bum in the warm and staying clean and uninjured.

I'm definitely in the wrong trade.

Like I didn't know that already.

I think there needs to be a pay levels switcheroo in various trades, dependant on shitness of job.
