This is utter crap about it being modified, my dad had bigger alloys added to his 407, he never mentioned that to his insurance company, he would never think that he would need to tell his insurance company seeing as the wheels were specified from the factory.
Like when you ring your insurance company they ask, "Is the car modified from the factory specification?"
My answer would be
"No" because the wheels were added when the car was in the factory.

Im sure this happened when my dad bought his A4, the insurance company were late sending the cover note to the dealer & he had to wait a few days before he could pick up his new car & the car was lying insured in that time - wasnt best pleased!!

These guys will cover you from like 10 pound a day temp on car just for things like this perhaps i should have read this thread earlier and you can print your proper documentation off at home on your printer and take it with you to get
ROAD LICENSING (TAXATION): dayinsure.com motor insurance certificates provide evidence of insurance in the format prescribed by Road Traffic Act legislation. However, the DVLA and UK Post Offices will not accept electronically downloaded documents for road fund licence purposes.
Therefore, you cannot purchase temporary insurance under this arrangement for the purposes of obtaining a road fund licence (taxing a vehicle).
Road fund licences should be obtained using documentation supplied by the provider of appropriate annual insurance cover on the relevant vehicle

Sometimes I wish Rachel would just take a small risk and would have swapped the diamond insurance over today and had the Vauxhall insurance cover as well, then if Diamond hadn't sent the covernote out in time we would have had the Vauxhall insurance as backup.

Really this is the insurance company at fault though & not the dealer, the garages hands are tied until they recieve the cover note & It is up to you to have the insurance organised in time & cover note in place.
They could give you the car out on trade plates for the weekend if they want to then have you drop them off & pick up the tax disk on Monday morning - ive seen that done before!!

Rachels mum rang the Vauxhall insurance up and now they have insured Rachel, she spoke to a women this time who knew more about the car and the 19 inch wheel factory option and said that its fine.
So we are good to go tomorrow
