The thing I laugh at is the Steve's of cs say the figures for the 106GTi are wrong and it is infact quicker than that... Yet compare it to the figures of the 172 Whats to say they aren't wrong either?

They probably are wrong. Most maunufacturers figures are conservative, its just people pipe on about the 106 GTi ones a lot!

I also remember having a crack with a 172 when i first had my leon and it was standard, so 7.4 to 60. And i was keeping up with it easily on a dual carriageway
from my experiences the 172 times if anythinig seem to be optimistic

Yeah I know the GTi is quicker than 8 seconds to 60, but my mates 172 Cup Trophy would slowly pull away from GTi's/VTS' until about 90 then would take off.

Subaru say 6.4sec for Turbo 2000, EVO timed 5.5sec consistantly and one was timed at 5.03sec. Top Gear also timed 5.2sec.
A lot of it is due to insurances groups and half load timing.

seems about right the trophy is faster than a full fat 172 anyway, which is what we are on about i think?

iv kept with 306 gti's before, found very little differences between them
would say that one might edge away on the motorway above 90 though

Isn't the 182 slower 0-60 and 1/4 than a Cup anyway
