lol someone was ripping into me at work today about my car.

One of the software engineers I was working with was like 'I'm gonna use the excuse that paul ran over my foot when he was trying to gun it out of work in his done up car, so I don't have to come in to work anymore" etc...

Despite me not caining it out / or from cold or getting a chance due to sitting in traffic jams when leaving.

This is the thing that annoys me the most about 106 gti - it looks like it's 'dun up' and when you have a group N decatted straight through exhaust system on it, it sounds like its 'rude boy' car too.

This is the only reason I'd be tempted to sell mine, just get something more 'Classy' - as people who don't know anything will think its a 1.1 106 with a kit and loud exhaust etc.

Though the handling on roads is so awesome ... on decent tyres (and suspension in my case).

It's alright on track but no FWD on track is 'brilliant' - but on road it's great!

I've found with my 106 gti (Have I got a diff? lol!) - that if I keep the power on through a bend it pulls me tighter round the bend, than if I brake / slow down / lift off etc.

Last night coming off the motorway jnc 10 of m4, going to Reading, it's like a sweeping left, then right dual lane slip road, followed by a straight and right hander onto the a329... quite nice sweeping bends, most people will do about 40 mph around them.

I came off the motorway doing about 70-80, had a bently continental gt zooming off infront (was quick!), we both went in the outside lane, got to the bends and I just kept my throttle on, was doing like 100 round the sweeping corner, was almost sitting on the bumper of the bently continental Gt! came out of the last bend in 4th gear, accelerating out of it (exiting about 110 out of the corner), into 5th gear and onto the straight and the Bently just fucked off into the distance but it's amazing how much the car just 'glues to the road' if you keep the throttle on!

Strange though on track, I find I get understeer at like 70 on some corners - either the corners or tighter are my tyres are just going off and fuck up.

more strain on an already weak gearbox, plus 14's will be nippier and better handling

I think the handling is effective, my old xsi was much better, the ride is too harsh.
