I wouldn't say the auto was faster at all and nor is it better in my opinion, its a strong box etc etc but if your good with the manual, its alot quicker! I would swap my auto supe for a manual any day! Especially on a turbo.

I think the majority of drivers wouldn't be able to change as quick as an auto box can.

Auto Supras are faster than manuals.

the auto's are faster... fact
Check the 'road' car 1/4mile times on mkIV supra... most of the quicker ones are auto.
With the trac fuse out it will change gear hell of a quick at at peak revs.... wont hit the limiter, wont change up too early.
Also can launch liek a bugger with an uprated Torque Converter....
The auto can also be kept 'in gear' like a manual too, and shifted up at your own pace.... so that ruins that argument.

I knew they were faster
I wouldn't be too bothered about losing the MANU option. Haven't used it yet (though was going to have a play tonight).
You're not the only one mate We drove back from Slough with OD on. Turns out the switch (or LED) is wired the wrong way and even though it says OD/OFF on the dash it's actually on no wonder we used so much petrol

In a proper supra you need to hold on with both hands hence the auto being better

Nah nice car mate, Supras are in my top list , just look perfect, and in the fastest colour too!
Have fun with her and like AK said take it easy in the wet, if its your first RWD car.

I like the look of them without the spoiler also, different. Prefer them with though and apparently the handling and acceleration are greatly affected without them.
Will do Nismo
ps. where is Jason these days? I haven't seen him on here for a while.

I read on supranet in the millions of auto vs manual threads that the manuals are quicker providing you are good at shifting and manual is like 4.9 and auto is about 5.1 ? Not a huge difference anyway, but the manual just feels faster!

I think it 'feels' faster due to the rougher gear changes when compared to the smooth ones on the auto.
Could be wrong.
