Engine is out!!
First ever time ive attempted taking an engine ot of a car, not too bad as it goes, had all the loom unplugged and what not only fuel and rad pipes were still on
first drained the rad and took that and the fan out, then clamped the fuel line and disconnected those aswell
then this is what it looked like
then unbolted the wishbones and steering rack from the wheels and popped both driveshafts out, disconnected the brake lines and then unbolted front anti-roll bar, then un-bolted the rear engine mount while it was still in the air
then lowered it down onto a trolley bed, undid front mounts and lifted the car up and away presto! one 1.4 8v lump
some of the other bits in a cage for storage
next got a spare set of rollers from the yard and placed the front end down on it so it can obviously still be moved about
then decided to remove the tatty batery tray and give the engine bay a dose of de-grease
before
after
much better pic of where battery tray was...
and thats it for the while may go into work tomorrow and do a little more but we'll see
conversion bits hopefully be picked up later this week including a nice F20 gearbox yay!

yeh but makes sure i leave it outside, if not he's given workmates permission to spray paint any "choice messages" they feel like on my car in primer
the words "cock" and "gay boy" are a couple of faves lol
so bought a £8 tarpalin to wrap it up in while its outside

more updates
got my front bumper prepped and ready today, and ther was a spare booth at lunchtime, so got it de-greased + tacked sharpish
a quick coat of wet-on-wet then whipped out a small batch of my yellow and presto one painted front bumper! (might poss do the doors/bootlid tomorrow)
i know some people will ask why not do it all at once, i would but its just lack of time, this is sort of keeping pace in my eyes, and the colour match will be fine as its a solid colour not metallic (and its a track car at the end of the day)
pics
looked 10x better when i took the masking off, the black plastic and yellow contrast really well, im very pleased with it
oh yeah i forgot, painted this the day before but forgot to take pics
the bonnet (painted both sides) safe in upstairs storage
more soon.......

Update time peeps, the shell is near enough prepped ready for paint (apart fromt the engine bay, ran outta time)
came in mid morning saturday and tore into it, basically went over the WHOLE car with 320 sand paper with a palm sander and got a nice key all over the paint,
passenger side
driver side (you can see the diff between the wing+door next to un-prepped 1/4 panel)
found a few more little dings/dents but its a rough an ready track car so i dont care
also prepped the inside and made a decision to matt black it so when i weld the plates in for the roll cage i can just sand off the paint in the areas i want to weld on then just spray paint over em again (plus will look better fully just matt black and yellow (instead of white inside)
but ran out of spray paint DOH!
before
after (although only half painted)
then wrapped it up incase i have to chuck it outside again, then went home to bed
decided on doing the engine bay matt black aswell now, lot quicker and easier as i really want this finished soon, just have to save up for a couple more engine bits (clutch kit, hoses from roose motorsport, service parts/gaskets and brake hoses)
more soon
