right i got a pic of my cam pulleys, it has two white marks on, guess this is for the timing.
can you tell if the timing is good, bad etc from this pic, the red arrows point to the markings

i think im near 100% sure the problem is the sensors missing off the pulley and the timing.
Undid the sensor for the pulley today and it dint even attempt spark and start. plugged it back in and it started to go but its like it needed the other sensors. will get a new pulley asap, get it on, time it and voila fixed engine.................................................i hope

Aren't the x14xe pulleys the same as the x16xe? If they are just take one off your old engine then source a new one for the x14xe when you sell it.

i was going to do that but the x14xe one is done up stupidly tight and wont budge, and its sold now anyway, guy will be picking it up very soon.
so ill hopefully get a new one soon. i bought a new one off boz_gsi but that also had a broken sensor on it!

I had no car for three or so weeks because of the damn thing . Screw walking, If I need something I will just drive to the next big town (15 miles or so) for the sake of driving .

, I stole my mates car while he was at work, was easier than asking him for lifts to get even more parts for the damn redtop. Its taught me something though, I don't have the patience for a redtop conversion EVER AGAIN! .

Thats what I kept telling my self. Had so many problems with drive shafts popping out of the gearbox etc. Ended up being the cv-joints were too long and were hitting something in the gearbox so they weren't clipping in. Bit of angle grinder and it was fixed . Think almost every part of my car has been mangled by the angle grinder as well .

It should start and run ok with no cam sensor at all.
Its only used to run sequential injection.
Without it the ecu just switches to batch injection, running from the crank sensor.
Are you sure you didn't unplug the crank sensor? It plugs in up by the upper inlet, same as the cam sensor.
Turn the engine over by hand and see if those white marks point towards each other.
