Will need to rev to 7000rpm odd, hence needing rod bolts too.

Engines will also need to be revved hard to get the power.

XE will have more power, more torque, at a lower RPM, and far more drivable on the road.

Tuned 1.6 will probably be slightly faster round a track though.

Tuned 1.8 16v for ultimate coolness.

XE/LETs/Tuned 1.6, old hat.

Ultimate IE coolness points comes now only from radical conversions. Turbo'd bike engine, or a big thumping V8 in the back, or like that bloke had, the 1.3 Turbo starlet lump

Wouldn't mind seeing a mid engine RWD LET or XE though. It's been done with the Nova to good effect.

XE all the way for me.Find some1 who can do a good conversion for way less than £1k then spend the rest on a decent exhaust system(with manifold if possible)
Then maybe if budget allows thro in a set of Autosprint cams and a flat flywheel if its a late spec XE.

As for the C20XE in a corsa been a cliche and done to death etc.Theres a reason for that,at the end of the day it works and its the way the corsa shouldve left the factory.

Done both.

Pound for pound the XE conversion is the better, plus I thought was more fun.

If your going tuned 1.6, don't go mantzel route. Go TB's. Been there done that and I should have done the TB route.

Tuned 2.0.

No replacement for displacement, and they arn't THAT much heavier than a 1.6, esp when its just bodies bolted on.

Out of Andys 214bhp 1.6, and Stu's 215bhp XE, Stu's fealt much faster.

Andy had 145lb ft, St had that as standard on a 2.0. Morelike 170-190lb ft when on bodies.

1.6 16v i thinks better off in a Nova. Lighter shell, makes more use of the power and lack of torque.

Don't knock it.

Very popular in Brasil. See 130+bhp from a 1.0 12v with turbocharger.

IIRC a C20XE with F20 is only 27kg heavier than the heaviest 1600 and its gearbox.

When I win the lottery, I will be keeping the 12v

Dblias Flowtech Inlet Manifold and Flowmaster Dynamic Air Induction Kits will add about 20bhp, according to Regal will set you back £1k though
