back to the point, yes its a bit louder just like a shit load of holes really,
no problems with water unless you start flying through really deep puddles then its your own fault. i wasn't really looking for loudness i just wanted least restriction without the heat soak.

I took the side bit off earlier 
It sounds quite cool to me, but it was virtually impossible to get off because I think it was glued on  I had to hammer screwdrivers into the gap and then hammer it through the other side as well, then it popped off
Took the resonator off as well and decided to try and take that apart, but just kept snapping bits off it so gave up. It has a small hole on the back of it, though  Ahh well, it's sat in the garage for another day.

i used a drill to make a pilot hole then used a jigsaw down one side.. then levered it off... mine was the same... well on!!
whats this about the resonator then?? what does taking it off do??

You'll only have it if you have a 1.0 12v. It's this stupid empty box that they stick on the side of the air box, and as far as anyone can tell, all it does is take air instead of giving it to the filter.
I think it helps it make a tad extra noise without it as well, and I duct taped up the hole on the cold air feed where it used to go

I only had the standard one too. Its up to you if you take it off or not. Why not try it and if you have any probs, put it back on.

if you mount the ducting in front bumper when the roads are wet and following other traffic all the spray will go up into the ducting, could the ducting be mounted behind the front grill area

if you mount the ducting in front bumper when the roads are wet and following other traffic all the spray will go up into the ducting, could the ducting be mounted behind the front grill area
So it could; with that immense intake pressure a N/A car produces

Just done mine Took off the lower cover. Was bloody hard to get off though. Got the junior hack saw on it in the end lol. Can only just hear a slight difference though but every little helps

You do not need to heat shield the standard cold air feed. Think about it - if it needed doing, then Vauxhall would have done it.
Plus it's such a small amount of the plastic that would get heated (if any) that it would be totally unnecessary.
