Nice one though Mobby, it's something I want to do when the insurance won't rape my wallet.

We haven't gotten as far as that unfortunately
If you know any good places in Newbury, or round that area, can you let me know in that link? Someone had the idea of going there but we don't know anyone that lives there yet or knows the area
Btw I remember your car from TOTD It was shooting up and down the road afterwards
Oh yeah, the meet will probably be the end of this month, but it may get pushed back a week or two because of the weather.

Is that a multi-storey? It looks like it from an aerial view anyway. Google Maps took me to "Reading City Gate" if that's the right one. Ojc has had the idea of a football stadium.

The corsa gearbox will be good for a good 200BHP just uprate the clutch and whilst it's apart get a lightened flywheel

Im still struggling to beleive how the X18XE1 can keep up with a C20XE.With less power and torque i dont see how its possible. All this power thro the revs and stuff being favoured towards the 1800,just dosnt seem to cut it.
The trick to having a quick car is to getting the BHP and Torque around the same. And the C20XE with 150bhp/145lb/ft is alot closer than the X18XE with 115bhp and 135lb/ft.The 1.8 maybe has bags of low down pull, but so does the 2.0.Thats what makes them quick.Coupled with an F16/20 gearbox i just cant beleive the 1800 would stand a chance.

This does seem to me to be a very cheap conversion if you know what your doing with wires and plugs... the mechanical side seems pretty simple? Seperate engine from gearbox and take out, plonk 1800 16v in?

So can you use standard corsa mounts for the x18xe?

Yep.. Just transfer everything over.. Alternator bracket etc. too, its a Family1 engine so all of the bolt holes etc are in the same place as the rest of the four pot small blocks..
Main snags are the heater matrix pipes (the inlet manifold fouls them) but you just cut 1 inch off the pipes.. And there is no space for the factory header tank as the ECU is in the way.

Hmm, to do the head gasket and rebuild my x16xe or look out for a cheap x18xe.

The X18XE is hard work to extract extra power from unless you go down the TB route and that is expensive.
Where as you can get 150bhp from the X16XE with an inlet, cams and a decent map and that should come in under 1k.
