They had the Megane on because they havent featured it before. They could have put the Astra Nurburg thingy on but thats not different enough from the normal VXR. One of those Thorney Motorsport VXRRXERGTI whatever there called things would have been interesting though-

If the RS was stripped to the same spec it would eat the Renault all day.

For everybody that's banging on about the RS & meganne.....

In youtube type Focus RS Vs Clio 200 and look how fucking wank the focus's handling is compared to the £16k clio

I like the focus, cracking car, shame they didn't make a limited number like the last one, would of made it a little more special then.

Exactly what I'm thinking VXR-R vs RS. I'd watch that

As said, the Megane and Focus aren't really competitors. The VXR-R and RS are the same sort of thing, both tuned hot hatches with similar power, and all the practicality of the normal versions.

was about a 1.33 i think, but i dont think it was an actual Astra VXR. It was something like a pre production mule or whatever, like an SRi with the VXR engine and bodykit.

the clio is not 1.5 tonnes not hard to understand a heavy car is going to handle worse than a light one.

and the clio is 19k with the options

The special episodes like Vietnam have been as entertaining as ever but the studio sections have been disappointingly shit for the last few series IMO, the scripted 'banter' between the three of them feels terribly forced and awkward nowadays.

Hammond trying to simulate a sex act when shown the Zonda is just pathetic. Entirely fake and he's no actor.

I honestly wish they'd get rid of Hammond, he's just a pain in the arse. I think his shitty acting ruins the whole thing. And his hair! Good god that hair.

TBH I always enjoy Clarkson and Mays own programmes just not Hammonds, they're naff.

Star in a car should be dropped, it's definately run its course.

I've been saying that for ages. The only exception recently was last week with Stephen Fry which was a good one.

Usain Bolt was completely pointless, he didn't even know why he was there!

Programme is getting a bit stale now, but still the best thing on TV by a million miles. In fact Top Gear and the Formula 1 coverage were the only two programmes I watched on TV all of last week!

Agreed, I recorded it again this week and when watching it later I fast forwarded through the star in the reasonably priced car bit, bores me now plus it's a waste of 20 minutes, the challenges are the only good thing about TG now and it seems that's all that is happening in the episodes. Well, the majority of them anyway.

Yes. It was. Dougie who is the VXR brand manager has said time and time again that Top Gear stated that unless they could get the Astra to them for that particular test they wouldn't be reviewing it again and were supposed to mention the fact it wasn't the completed version.

Clarkson in his infinate wisdom decides to fail mention that. WANKER.

But anyway, who GAF about Top Gear lap times. Real world Nurburgring lap times are all that matters and that fat arse RS can't get near the Megane and is only slightly faster than a shit handling Vauxhall.

A stage 2 VXR with light suspension mods WITHOUT LSD is faster.
