Is the intergrity only a massive part of the job between cops?

Doesn't seem to be outside of that.

My cousin left the army a few months ago to go in the police force.

Gone through the training assessments and was just waiting for a training start date. Had a letter through recently saying they have no money and are cancelling recruiting till something like September NEXT YEAR. Its a fucking joke.

So now he is sat without a job as he obviously had to quit the army and his pay stopped in June. Was halving his wage to join the force too

every force right now apart from the Met is short of funds. We have had 60 new recruits since i joined in april 08, and no more scheduled until probably april 2010. If you want to get into the job, be prepared to move and apply to the Met - with the Olympics coming up, they will be boosting numbers in order to have more officers trained and on streets in time.

Have you's not been told you have to hire more for the olympics? We need another 250 officers at least, but no money for recruiting so theyre hiring all them as specials!

When I was joining, I was advised to join the MET, then transfer to Durham, but tbh, I'm glad i stuck at it, Durham in an excellent force to work for, would hate to be in a large one like northumbria, GMP, MET etc

He enquired about Glasgow (I think) but they said he'd have to withdraw his application with Cumbria police force and then wait 12 months before he could apply with them

Would he not be better going into specialist security or something then if he's SAS trained rather than become a beat officer?

He'll probably end up performing the death grip on some chav on the 1st day!!

Everyone wants to go into Traffic. its hard to get into.

The recruitment process for police varies from Constabulary to constabulary.

But in general its

Application Form
SECURITY CHECKS (FAMILY/FRIENDS ETC)
PIRT (Police Initial Recruitment Test)
Interview
Fitness Test
Medical
More Security checks
References
Job offer
Training

Then you are on probation for 2 years I think and until you've passed your 2 years you can't specialise - traffic etc.

What?
Im afraid the police can't deny you a job because of your mates. Its all about individuals now.

They do background security checks on family and ask if you know/live with anyone with crim record etc.

Surely there would be no Police forces in he UK if they denied you entry for knowing someone with a criminal record Get points on your license and thats you got a criminal record.

You are not necessarily denied entry. Points isn't a crim record btw.
