Oh course they can. That is the legal plate of this day and age.

If the surface is altered, a part of the plate is altered, making it illegal?

It specifies that the character can't be altered, and it isn't.

If I get a boner, it raises up. Hence my penis is altered. The letters on that plate, are raised. Making it altered.

That's not the plate a standard car would have come with, which is what you said.

True. A girl was offering a blowjob for £5 last night on the corner, it must have been a legal act.

I think you'll find the yellow and white plates are what standard cars come with. Thats why I said it.

There's so much shit in this thread tbh, it depends how old the car is as well, you can't make everybody go out and buy a new plate.

Read that. Read it word for word. If a car comes from the manufactuers with those plates. They are LEGAL. A white and yellow plate on a car before 1973 are going to be legal, as they are LEGAL plates.

So, is it at the policeman/womans discression if they ask you to remove one, as I know plenty of people who have been pulled and told to change them because they are illegal?

Traffic cops don't even know the rules let alone normal cops.

Normal cops pulled my gf over and told her traffic would give her a fine for her plates being too short.

Length was fine, they didn't have a bs mark, manufacturer or postcode though, idiots.

Police specials are even lower than normal cops, I'd take more notice of a lollipop man forum.

tbh, just get one anyway. If they tell you to change it then do so, I've had no problems with mine.

to save this massive argument, why not buy a pressed plate from a site stating its legal, put it on the car, keeping proof of purchase, and if you get pulled over and fined, you can appeal and the site you bought it from will be fined and not yourself.. sorted.

Nooo, thats what you wanted to hear. How does that statement there make it Legal? Of course Halfords are going to sell them, why not? They sell spray cans and hammers etc. Its not Illegal to sell such items, its their intended use that is.
