no clearcoat, thats sits weird in my mind, so are you just polishing the paintwork, does this mean you can't get swirls/hologrammes etc? Or if you do they are straight into the paint layer/

No idea, I know that with the simple application of SRP it really does make a massive difference to the swirls even by hand.

I didn't say he asked me, specifically. To be fair, his thread was open to the forum...I was making a statement that I don't know what one is, mister cocky

You get depth guages that measure thickness of seperate coats, it's not rocket science to do it.
My gf's red corsa doesn't have a clear coat and its a year old.
It's not a year old actually, it's 6 months old.

Also, although most of this 'detailing' stuff is conning stupid people, if you're conning them out of a grand to polish their 300k car with an expensive grinder you need to make sure you don't cause 20k worth of damage, that's the answer to your original question Davey.

Nope.. But there are people charging silly amounts of money to basically clean a car and they will quote all sorts of magic lotions and potions to seal paint that isnt even permiable!.. Oh and theres the irony on cars that done have clear coat (which are actually permiable) there doesnt even seem to be a product that does the job.. FLOL

So is someone going to prove me wrong with the paint guages? One that actually measures different layers of paint and show me someone who checks every part of the car before, during and after machine polishing?

usually the idea is to measure it so they no if the paint is original or has been painted hence it being thicker. Like the bloke with the white vxr checked to see if it wasent a damaged repaired car
