Possibly.
Same applies though, it specifically tells me to leave it on until the light goes out yet the car started fine without it.
Yet these petrols take 3 seconds before they start up

My Fiat starts badly and in a cloud of white smoke if I don't let it let it heat up. I borrowed Tomnova16's Citroen and it started instantly, didn't even realise it was a diesel until I asked the next day!

You know full well that they don't take 3 seconds before they start. You know full well where we are coming from and the reasons behind the questions asked.
You are a cock. Always have been...always will be...unless you grow up one day.

Same as my Citroen Berlingo, it just keeps turning over until it's hot enough

My audi starts and i have no idea even if it has a glow plug light, or a filter heater? Get in it, smash the throttle open, go slow and thats that.

If it's got one of those MFD's on the dash I'd assume they'd show the icon on there if it mattered. That's what happens on Alfas which have similar.

I'll never grow up.
The car shouldn't take 3 seconds before it will start properly no matter what you think of me, unlucky.

i noticed on the z19dth engines that if you started it without letting the glow light go off, they were a bit hesitant to rev straight away.
could be illuminated for a few seconds or so for a heated filter, or to use the glow relay for some other checks, or that it might takle it a few seconds to complete a check on the glow circuit.
the question initially was wether to wait until the dash calibrates for cranking, and in this situation i think its plausible that on the petrols you should observe the 2-3 seconds wait.
everything calibrates, abs modulators, adaptive headlights and xenons calibrate everytime ignition on. but visually, the dash is the only thing a driver really sees.

So vauxhall garages are now excellent then because anybody who has a vauxhall qualification must be an expert

no john. in a vauxhall garage there is probably about 3-4 techs max who have the relevant can bus qualifications.
bit of a difference from changing an oil filter to changing a control module.

There's absolutely no difference except with one of them you have to plug tech 2 in and get to keep your hands clean.

it is a stupid design. there are some seriously silly things about can bus
ie, disconnect door plug looms on a vectra c or and astra h or corsa d and car wont start. or remove the radio. they have ridiculous things they have to do.
when reprogramming any ecu on a insignia, its done remotely with no tech in the car as even a change in suspension height from getting in the car can make the programme unhappy!

your wrong there john, tech 2 is used now for older vehicles. new stuff is done remotely via bluetooth and a desktop.
i say older i mean pre MY 2010
