A weak hot hatch? How is it weak exactly, power output? If thats the case then a weak hot hatch would be a fiat 500, ctr would be intermediate and a focus rs/megane would be the 'strongest' if we use your sense of thinking. Regardless im backing Gez on this. In an everyday world a civic type r is a pretty fast car that is classed as a performance car.

so what its got 200bhp,that don't make it a performance car.
stop being a fanboy and trying to comment when you know fuck all.
have you actually owned/driven any of the cars mentioned?

Irony. Saying someone else knows fuckall. Do you base all hot hatches on how much power they have? For it's all round performance, the CTR was the top dog for years. I'm aware an XE would be just as quick, if not quicker in a straight line as I've sat up the arse of a couple in my old Corsa, but that doesn't mean it's shit. In any other circumstance, the CTR is the superior car.

You keep commenting on the XE having 80bhp less, but how about weight? ST must weigh near enough 1500kgs, so 400kgs+ going by your calculation. Suddenly your 80bhp difference doesn't seem like much when the ST is hauling that extra weight.

really? i gradually pulled away from a corsa vxr in my old clio.
Ive also had an xe corsa keep up with me in the same clio but it was a few car lengths back and was on the motorway so it could have easily passed me.
Cant see a corsa vxr keep with a ctr tbh. you can feel the ctr has more power and is quicker than the clio and that was the 182.

standard form the corsa vxr isnt the best. 189bhp with 1300kg. Simple mods such as filter, precat removed and stage 1 map around 215bhp, pocket rocket.

I wasnt impressed by the pace of a CTR tbh.IMO they are over-praised.

i sat up the arse of a CTR in my XE corsa (156bhp) so the ST would be much the same i would imagine.
obviously top end ST would keep pulling as would the CTR but not by as much.

its the easy tuning potential with the st tho. If that had the usuall mods; exhaust, filter and map. Its going to have a nice step up in horses.

isnt this not about a standard ST, CTR and VXR against a modified corsa though?

This thread is a fairly pointless argument when all we have to do is wait for tomorrow when that guy buys the ST and im sure gidged will tell us how much he did him on the local race road...

tbh theres not much point comparing them.
xe corsa £1000-£2000 - 06 ST focus about £10,000?

In general i dont think it really matters on how new or how old 2.0/ 2.0T cars are because they are all going to be roughly the same speed as other cars in the same category, unless you had something that shoots off like a rocket from 0-whatever then there isnt going to be much in any race between a 2.0 this and a 2.0 that.
the faster car will obviously more than likely pull away in a straight line due to various things but it wouldnt be a case of it shooting off by car lenghts after car lengths unless it has a turbo if you know what i mean.

Coming from the man who wants to swap his 2.0 for a 1.6.
