Escort Xr3i (pepper pot alloys£)
They never had pepper pots.
Best for me is the Escort RS1800
There were those white things for a very short time on the all white, Series one 1.6i cabriolet Robin.
I have seen them once or twice on early and late, white XR3is and even a late blue one once, but I don't know whether that was a customer thing or a factory thing. They look so much better than the poached egg/phone dial affair that they usually have too.
I think they were too costly to fit as standard equipment if a remember correctly.

Probably an aftermarket thing then.

No, they were fitted by Ford, at the factory.
Am I not typing English clearly enough?
They are very rare, but they were standard fare on the all white 1.6i Cabriolet MK IIIs.
I have seen them on both MK III and MK IV hard top XR3is.
They look much nicer than the standard issue poached egg and dog leg affairs, but Ford didn't adopt them in the end, as they weren't made in house and were too dear to source and fit as OE on all production cars.
A shame really.
