Its not a dig but I though around the 500 mark surely is cheap for coilovers? You saying you would fit Gaz to the Astra if it became a serious dedicated track car?

you would just go up the range rather than buy mid range £500, go up to gaz golds or something.

No mate, but that's because standard suspension is awesome.
£200 is cheap for coilovers, so you are discrediting the Bilsten B14 kit simply because it's less than £500?

Not at all I think its probably good (based on input fom Broster) but surely you can see the in comparison to the Gaz it is non damping rate adjustable yet the same price?
In response to the fact Paul is talking about a Clio dont you already have Gaz? I thought the KTR coilovers were rebranded Gaz coilovers?

Gez Look at the link above mate, I was looking into coilovers for my Clio I found that they were Gaz
Probably right Ollie as I've heard stories of KW coilover units leaving the factory with different damping readings etc. I even saw a set of V2's on a bench being sent back to KW under waranty. Didnt someone on here also have problems with their B14's? (green corsa)

very interested in this paul
whats the cost of entering the series? how many events?
surely you are well over 150whp/tonne? so you would be in Class B?
my coilover were £1400 new :/ would never pay that
these clio's seem to be very capable cars, how does the 'sharing' work with the races?

5 Races, £300 entry per race.
2 Driver 45 minute races, with a pitstop / driver change
You need FIA racesuit, FIA helmet, Gloves with nomex. FIA seat, FIA harnesses, a Rollcage which meets regs (full, with diagonal rear bar and door bars), fire extingisher and engine cut off and then ARDS test and you're ready to race.

5 races or 5 different circuits
is that ONE race for 45minutes, and thats the event done?
so looking at
£1500 entry fees
£300 in fuel (one tank a event)
£500 tyres
£200 maintance etc
so looking at £3000 say without any major car faults for a session divided by 2 is £1500 each
not to bad realy

Yes, plus the car... which has to meet the regs.
and the clothing etc which once again has to be FIA approved and within expiry date. That stuff + ards is £1000 easy.

Generally cheap and cheerful I think. I was at someone workshop when they had fitted them to a Clio and he commented that it has several clicks giving a false indication on how ajustable they were. Also said that they were predomantantly aimed at the rally market and they often spec them with wrong springs.
As long as you do you homework and know what you are specing (Like Lee303) I am sure they will be ok.
as said you can spec them with what ever springs you want if you know (lee etc ) what you want
and there dynoded to ensure they match side to side too

we worked out that we spent about 7-8k last year...
Entry fees were about £1500
we budgeted 2.5k for fuel to get there and on the day for the year. That should be too bad for you.
We spent maybe 1.5k on tyres
We spent about 6-700 on brake consumables
Or 'service' after each round costs about £150 so - 750 just in parts
