Cool 300mm ftw.

How about a car conundrum for people:

Mum has an EP Civic 1.4. Dad has a mk3 Mondeo 1.8. They want to get rid of both and get one car to cut down running costs. The problem is, what they want is something in the middle of the two with a petrol engine and manual gearbox. They went and looked at C-Maxes last weekend but apparently their back bench is designed to have 3 kids in and not two adults so wouldn't be comfortable to be in the back of for a length of time, which means it isn't really a good option.

Anyone else got any ideas of something bigger than a Civic but smaller than a Mondeo, with normal rear seats?
