There are many reason why an aircraft could go down like that.
If anyone remembers AT29 crashing during a test flight from Warton 15 years ago, it went down a similar way. As he rolled, a loose washer jammed the rudder actuator and held the aircraft in a right hand roll. Similar thing could have happened to the hawk.
Vid here is what they show us in work and is actual footage and cockpit voice too.

Think I used the wrong terminology there....They have bags that inflate on your arms/ legs which force blood away from them...thus increasing pressure to your brain.

Some people deal with death better than others. Given he's been an active serviceman, she's probably prepared herself somewhat for when the worst happens.

I reckon they probably covered in pillow talk. What would you do if your plane was crashing towards people or you could steer it away?

Exactly that. Maybe it's a brave face, maybe she had already accepted it before now.

there was a pic in the sun yesterday taken by someone in the crowd which clearly shows some sort of flame on the underside of the plane.

if it was a bird strike that sent the plane down the bird would have gone in the jet intake and would no longer be recognisable

Not necessarily. I've seen plenty of bird strikes down intakes and they haven't caused a crash. if it was something the size of a swan hitting a control surface it could easily bring it down. They aren't telling anything yet but if it hit the windscreen and gone into his face that could also cause him to crash.
