Bump
Tried a few nice ones recently, Fullers ESB, Shepherd Neame 1698 and my current favourite, Lakeland Cumberland Ale.
Had a Spitfire last night, terrible stuff
Any recommendations which I'm likely to be able to get from a supermarket?

I've got on this over the past couple of years, broadside is probably my current go to if I just want a couple of bottles for a night.
I also like weird stuff like Wells banana bread beer, old thumper, old tom, Youngs double chocolate stout
Shepherds Neame IPA is lovely too, Old Peculiar is amazing, old golden hen, a scottish one I cant remember thats about 8.4% and knocks your head off but tastes amazing....
Was drinking tribute at the weekend which was an easy to drink pale.
Had so many I've enjoyed I really couldn't list them all, but all the above I've enjoyed enough for them to be memorable.

I'm 18 and my boss is trying to get my into real ales. I prefer the paler ones than the dark ones, but I am trying a few more.
Yorkshire Blonde is probably the nicest IMO up to now (only tried a few)
I think this thread is so much better since it was set up by someone called "Dave". Dave and Ale were mean't to be from the very start...

This.
Probably one of the nicest, along with IPA Green King.
Bought a box of bottled beer yesterday from Sainsburgers for £10 -
Brakspear Bitter 3.4%
Marston's EPA 3.6% - Pub near me has this and it always goes flat
Hobgoblin 5.2% - My favourite
Ringwood Fortyniner 4.0%
Cocker Hoop 4.6%
Banks's Best Bitter 3.8%

I've not ticked any off, but I'll try and remember to have a count up.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, York is full of "proper" pubs so its not hard to find new ales to try.

I've had it before Jamie I really like it.
We had what we dubbed the 'Nigerian Tramp's Breakfast' at Goodwood this year when we marked our arrival with a bottle each, chased with a pint of 'Ks' and ice.
