Funny you say that. My boss had a 2009 land cruiser v8 twin turbo diesel thingy things, and i went to lincoln in it with a trailer and a racing capri and it bounced everywhere once you got to 60 mph. The guy who i was with rekons its the trailer more than the car (it was one of the streamline box ones).

yup - I think i'd be happy enough with a 5 year old X5 but Fee seems to be a BMW hater
I've suggested a few BMWs over the years but nope
Away to dig out X5 pics... white one?

yup, i thought there was something inbetween them though. Seen something with a 535 badge on it that looked more like the X6. No idea
Touregs are actually not bad (V10 in pic)... the base models look a bit ghey though

Yes Adam, it is
I think they are understated and awesome. The interiors are lovely as well.

Those 5 series GT things are weird, I can't work out what they're supposed to be.

Yup, we looked at them before buying the RRS. 3.0 TDV6 though, not the V10 beast! Didnt test drive one.
Q7s - test drove them too and really liked the drive just gone off the styling a bit. They are very long and flat sided :S Seemed to have dropped a lot of value in 2years too!

so... thread re-cap as it went off an a bit of a tangent when Fee cam in and introduced the nae so 'cheap' white RRS stuff
2 options.... a cheaper tow car, or simply a replacement for the RRS.
Cheaper - short list would be.... Disco, Toureg, X5. Toureg would prob be easier/cheaper to find a 3.0 V6. X5's would be cheapest. Disco 'same' as current RRS.
Replacement - TDV8 3.6 RRS or TDV8 4.4 Full Fat Vogue.
Fee always points out the problems with my plans. I wanted to sell the RRS now and get a nice sporty daily car - getting a new (second hand) tow car early 2012 (the Disco, X5 etc)
She has pointed out we need a car with a boot for the dug - valid point so cant be without the tow car/car with a big boot.
so.... i dunno

re-visit
Still havent done anything about this but still need to look into trading.
Value of our current banger i'd guess at around 17k - really not sure, 55plate RRS TDV6 HSE with extras, multimedia pack (TVs, PS2, DVD player, wireless), Harmon Kardon sounds etc. Dont even know its mileage
Really looking at <30k and 2008 or newer.
Cant see Discos in that price range that I like - which is surprising as I thought they were cheaper than RR's! Maybe my search was pants and limited to being very Aberdeen local.
Touareg - very possible - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201218467487312/sort/default/usedcars/maximum-age/up_to_5_years_old/model/touareg/make/volkswagen/page/1/postcode/ab154dp/radius/100?logcode=p
X5 - again easy but to be honest they seem to just shed their value very quickly! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201204444426485/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/colour/black/maximum-age/up_to_5_years_old/model/x5/make/bmw/postcode/ab154dp/page/1/radius/100?logcode=p
White RRS... I WANT a TDV8

Will go check fullfat Rangies now but open to other ideas of cars similar to above. i.e Nice to drive daily, Nice to tow, Plenty of torque, AUTO, newish and <30k.
