It dosent. They are insured all the time. Why wouldnt they be?

Public sector workers

They would be registered with a council giving them insurance as long as they are on the register,
like for example a nurse would be on the NMC register and a paramedics would be a different register

Even if there not insured while on a break (which i doubt, as even on a break there still technically "at work") as soon as they take a call there no longer on a break so would be insured

And even if they got this £100 to interupt a break they'd still be uninsured, so shouldnt be allowed to work! what if they made a mistake while there uninsured?

This has NOTHING to do with insurance. Its just greedy fuckers thinking the world owes them a living.

Rather than just giving out this money for interrupted breaks, why don't they pay for more paramedics so that ALL paramedics can have proper breaks then?

And if you choose to work overtime, tough shit none of these break bonus money nonsense.

This country is going down the toilet, and quickly.

Epic idea. 4/5 interupted break payments a week would pay for a paramedic for a whole week!

surely if they can pay someone £100 for 15mins, they could of organised a rota system over the hundreds of years of our existance.

no wonder we are broke britain, costs £20,000 apparatantly to fix a couple of potholes on the road in town.

things like this could be fixed within a community for a few hundred pounds if society worked as it should, a pothole in town shouldn't be made a massive district wide trail of paperwork costing £20k and 12months of organising.

wtf are they playing at?

That will be next for these pricks, taking a break mid call. Driving a heart attack patient to hospital, blue flashin, sirens goin. Ooh break time, pull over to the side of the road engine off, let patient die.

Road works are a completely new ball game.

As soon as it's council and a road it's hundreds of thousands.

I cant find hard facts but a quick google search came up with a quote in this news article about being uninsured

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-14510131

Earlier this year, GMB Scotland said ambulance staff were unpaid and off duty during breaks and were not insured to respond to emergencies.

So they'll suddenly be insured now when they get £100 for being interrupted?

Sounds like that's been made up to try and take the heat off.

wrong about what?

my opinion?

my opinion is why cant they take an unpaid break in a stressful job without you lot wanting to stab their eyes out

didn't say it was right they got paid to have it interrupted, didnt say they shouldnt be interrupted if there is no one else that can respond to a call when its a life of death situation
