How is it that the west has been sending money to Africa and India for years, yet the vast majority of African countries are still hell holes run by warlords/corrupt officials and India is on the brink of becoming one of the next global superpowers?

Because India isn't tribal.
Africa is fucked, and will continue to be without institutionalised education and massive cultural reform. This won't happen.
Idiotic idealistic gimps will continue to believe they can send them a water pump and some grain and they will somehow forget their tribal culture and stop believing in witchcraft.

This bullshit has filtered its way through to my Facebook now. I typed out a whole ranting status update about how the charity spend most of their money on salaries and travel budget and that everyone has fallen into their trap.
Then I remembered I couldn't be bothered with the backlash from the uneducated Daily Mail readers on my friends list.

Just had a whole week of this from radio1 for the sport relief that John Bishop did. An hour and half of Moyles' show was trying to guilt trip people into donating.
5 pound immunises a kid against 5 diseases or something. Keep them alive, further drain on overused resources, the earth dies more, they'll then go on to have 10 kids each, more people starve to death. Wonderful.
