225/35 tyres would give more clearance but will have a much skinner side wall and may look odd compared to the front's fatter side wall. Get arch enemy back out and tell em they didn't roll that side as much as the other.
Tyre man probably took chunks out the wheel cos he mounted the tyres in wrong order. On my '32's we had to reverse mount the tyres to the wheels due to them having a massive shoulder where the tyre sits on the rim.

Usually the tyre gets mounted the wheel with the wheel face up, but needs to be (or helps on these wheels) face down. My terminology is probably wrong but its the only way I could describe it

Perhaps to do with where the bead mounts on the wheel as in shape of wheel, although I cant see how it matters which way up the wheels is really. Never heard of reverse mount before anyway so that's new to me.

Jimmy is right about reverse mount the lad at the garage took it up to a wilco to try their machine and they told him to reverse mount.

I need to figure out why that makes a difference as I can't think of any reason why a cheetah or fire wouldn't seal it normal way up. Every day is a day for learning.

Going to drop 30-40 mm further on the front and raise the back slightly due to the rubbing issue.
Might go for a 225/35 on rear if it persists. No chance of running anything wider on the back and a few of the E46zone guys are running 215/40 on rear.

Very common on aftermarket and bmw wheels.
Bmw wheels can be a bitch anyway. as the wells are so deep.

No choice unfortunately.
However I ran 225/40 all round on MV2 wheels with Continental winter tyres. This is Continentals recomendation also and I'd like to think they know what they are talking about.

Agreed! Don't think any other colour would suit the blue as well.
Shame about the back needing raising, looks good as is.
Edit: Actually looks perfect as it is! Back sits very nicely in that photo.

They look nice Seth, love the silver. I havnt re-read this thread but what width are these on the back?
Everyone on the forums seem to be able to fit 9j rims on the back in either 18s or 19s and im not sure how they get away with it. I've got mv1s at the moment with 255s and need to know what i can fit on the back

Kenny they are 9" wide but its the low offset that is the problem ET20 I think (need to check). Thus they stick out but fill the arch nicely.
Here and across the pond most are having to run a 215 on back, I am trying to get away with a bit more width but its not looking good.

Ah ye i forgot about the offset with these wheels. I might risk some 9" wheels, all the ones iv seen for sale are that wide and i need staggered wheels. Currently looking for some ACS wheels but with not much luck.
Did want mv3s or 4s until i saw the prices

I'm not to keen on the wheels on seths one. They look like they stick way out on the fronts. Are they Alpina wheels???

I don't understand why you'd stick 215's on the rear when it's meant to have 255's (mine are). Just seems strange to lose 40mm each tyre for internet points.
