They've had a "goal" internally for a while, they want their console to occupy "input one" on people's TV screens. Basically they want it to be the hub for all front room entertainment, I guess the name came from that.
Console looks pretty cool. More convincing launch than PS4, I think I will have one... been on a gaming "break" for ages now, fancy a good stint again.

No 360 backwards comparability puts me off slightly, I hate getting new consoles and only having 1/2 games for it as I can't afford anything else.
Also wont work without the new kinect attached, seems restricted when kids play them, sometimes in rooms not big enough for the kinect

The new Kinect works with only a few feet of space though, apparently. You can be 6foot tall with arms out stretched above you just a couple of feet in front of the sensor, and it still reads all movement.

Any hardware geeks that can enlighten me on the whole DDR3 vs DDR5 thing.
Seems like Microsoft has opted for last years tech compared to Sony, but what are the advantages/disadvantages of running DDR3 vs DDR5?
Can't find much online except that DDR5 is theoretically faster, but there must be a reason for Microsofts choice. Or does it boil down to cost?

'What if I want to take say fifa 14 round my friends but he has no internet? What then? They charge for xbox live. Charge fees for used games. Stick a 500gb hdd on which is going to fill up in no time so u have fork out more money to upgrade that when your 50gb games have been mandatoraly installed to it. probably wont work anyway theres bound to be another red ring epidemic. Buying a PS4. #dealwithit you bunch of robbing highway banditmen'

DDR5 is generally better for large amounts of data, DDR3 for smaller. Obviously cost comes into play but it's all swings and roundabouts tbh.
Edit - Have a read of this - http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/whats-the-difference-between-ddr3-memory-and-gddr5-memory.186408/

The used game thing annoys me, plus needing internet connection. Yes I have an internet connection but don't have an unlimited download package, which is the same reason as why I don't use live at the moment.
I also know loads of people who have kids with an xbox in the bedroom as well as in the lounge, meaning they will essentially have to buy the game twice.
I don't understand how a pre-requisite of a games console can be that you have an internet connection
