I have no idea on the predicted depreciation on the Zoe, could be a deciding factor.

For an example John, My Partner bought a new Clio 1.2 Tce in September (62) Was about £13.5k (slightly better spec than Zoe) and that with a £1500 deposit is around £210 a month and it does 35mpg to the advertised 50 lol.

Same 4+ with 0% but this needs tax and fuel.

£70/month is silly tbf.

Pointless saying it only costs £5/6 to fill when you're paying £70 a month for it to just sit on the drive.

Somewhere around that yes, it was brand new though. And its a 1.2 Turbo.

So if you commuted to and from work in a Zoe, 30 miles a day, how would that compare cost wise to a petrol car with the same power?

Fair enough, I can't imagine that anyone who's concerned about economy (and therefore saving money) would pay £12.5k for a brand new Clio.

I'm loosing £300 a month in depreciation but hey I save a tenner on fuel and it's only £30 to tax.

13.5k for a clio focus was 500 quid more and is cheaper monthly payments.

Thats how much they cost you morons Clio is a great car and thats what she wanted, its not my car! Anyway she is on 0% Finance so will own the car its not a PCP/lease. And we are not talking about her car I was saying I spend £200 a month on the M3, IF I got a small car as a second cheaper car it would be a Zoe.

Seem to be getting the third degree here with no real arguments to back them up (Except MattyG )

Clio for example would be similar cost to purchase, minus the £70 p/m batt lease. Then the fuel on top which would be £X

So you're in pocket with the electric car if you spend £70 or more on fuel a month (not counting the extra electricity you'd use charging it up everynight ).

Wouldnt need charging every night. Its range is 100odd miles. Charge it roughly every 10days I reckon. Costs £3.

Fuel is ridiculously expensive. Especially town driving, not using brochure figures, plus its never going to get cheaper. I think this is a viable alternative in my position. Doesnt make it right for you or the best car ever.

But I would be severely tempted to buy one.

so no point in getting one unless you're doing over 12k a year. Then you are most probably doing a bit of motorway driving, is a small electric car suited to motorway driving? Always think of them as a city car

Also bear in mind that the technology is still developing, in a few years the mileage will have doubled, charge times will have halved and they'll make a lot more sense.

I reckon they will never price it way below petrol, they will work everything out and make the maximum amount of money from people they can, while offering them the minimal amount of savings over petrol.

Quite convenient how the costs work out
