Ask yourself this - would a Muslim person take offence to any posts in this thread? I'm not the one who needs to be educated on the meaning of racism here. You've got people typing Muslims then Pakis in brackets, insinuating they're the same thing.
People need to get off their high horse and stop trying to look for a way to justify the prejudices displayed here.

Although to fair Alan, you did mention the apparent open-racism on this forum (fair amount of exaggeration there, although i agree in that some of the comments posted are a bit close-to-the-bone and 'Daily Mail' like) which would suggest you have an issue otherwise you wouldn't be mentioning it at all.

Calling an indian a paki would be huge insult.

Its quite simple really, when you want to insult/upset someone you pick on the thing that you think would hurt them the most and its no surprise that if it was a indian/pakistani looking person people tend to go with "paki" (amongst other derisory adjectives) because they know it will cause offence.
Same way as if you wanted to insult a woman you'd call her an ugly slag or something.
So to say you dont see how paki can offend someone is odd because you know you'd use it if you really wanted to offend someone of that race.

The world would be a worse place without religion.
It exists to control masses of uneducated people, which it done a good job of holding order for thousands of years. Caused wars as well of course, but mostly kept people in check.
