According to this, all teams were invited and McLaren (among 5 others) have accepted - http://www.f1times.co.uk/news/display/08303

Considering they're using last season cars and there's some significant reg changes (especially with aero), i wonder if the data is useful or relevant enough to warrant shipping a team out to Bahrain for a few days.

If Red Bull think it's worth it, I'd say it is
Still a lot you can learn about profiles & the structure of the tyre etc. I'd rather go and find out what you can, all the top teams have. Only seems to be the skint ones who arent going and FI said they would have gone but it was too hastily organised.

Perhaps. From what i've been told, Pirelli tests are tighter than a ducks arsehole in terms of what teams are told about the tyres and compounds they're testing and data collected.
Either way McLaren have they're reasons; they aren't exactly struggling for money, so that's not the issue

Just to be clear, i wasnt insinuating they weren't going because of money issues, more that the reason the other teams presumably aren't going is the cost, rather than not going because they didn't think it was worth it.

Unlikely Di Resta will be back in a F1 car, so i wonder where he'll end up? DTM and Indy seem to get mentioned a reasonable amount.

Quite a few saying Indy car, obviously with his link to Dario who has just been forced to retired, that he'd take his seat.

Perez was unlucky at McLaren. Hope he does well at FI.

Nah some cars would already be at that due to a taller driver. This just means that the teams with midget drivers carry more ballast.

Spotted that over on Scarbs twitter account; interesting idea but would the plough pass reg's?
Potential car mock up with the 'plough nose' -
