I think Bens point here was the how 'in your face' some people are with it.

I really detest the need for people to show public displays of affection, and from seeing a few gay prides, the gays love to snog each other and worse in public, as some sort of 'we are gay, get over it' display.

I detest that, the same way I detest straight people getting it on in the street. Little peck on the cheek is fine, but no heavy petting please.

You're bringing up a completely different issue that has nothing to do with the original question.

As Gary says, what you're pointing at has nothing to do with sexuality but has to do with public behaviour.
