Sorry but you cannot class those two as both been legends. One has dominated for years winning 6 world championships at the very highest level and is still going strong proving people wrong all the time, the other has won a world championship twice at the highest level. I'd not class Alonso as a legend either before people start.
Far better to compare Rossi to Schumacher, Vettel, Loeb etc imho.

That's your opinion though, not a fact.
I think of them both as legends and couldn't care less if you disagree

Rossi dominated on the best bike on the grid, then jumped ship to one that was a bit of a dog and won the world championship on that, unless Vettel wins next year with Ferrari, that's a bad comparison.

won 2 world titles - one of which with a car in which any of the top ten drivers would have won the championship and now he is a legend

So Nico is not in the top ten then? Controversial.

unless I missed something Nico was not far behind - and well in front of any other of the teams

He was 67 points behind mate. Regardless he didn't win the championship which is what you said any top 10 driver could do in that team.
Any top 10 driver couldn't win as they'd have to be good enough to beat Nico in the first place. I'd argue only Alonso and maybe Ricciardo could've managed that.
2 drivers in a team remember.

we will agree to disagree then rather than have a 2015 thread about whether Hamilton is a legend or not

Think we've crossed wires here. I wasnt arguing for or against Lewis being a legend now hes won 2 WDC [hed be a legend to me if he won none but then if i had a uterus id have his babies] it was more the fact that his 2nd championship shouldnt be dismissed as an easy win just because the car was dominant. You made it sound like all he had to do was show up and he would win but that would be very derogatory towards Nico who put up a hell of a fight.

By the age of 30 he had already won the WC 5 times and one the year he was 30/1.

Journalists have been invited to a "media event" at Mclaren tomorrow. Surely its the driver line up announcement.

Although you have said the opposite in the past about other drivers who've been in a similar situation

Two highly experienced drivers would be extremely useful to a team. A mediocre newbie, not so much. But unfortunately it's all coming down to money and control of power in this case, hence the stall in selecting a line-up.
