Just ride all the time set yourself targets for each ride etc eventually your endurance and stamina will improve

Dont do small rides. And go longer before stopping, pushing yourself.

My minimum ride during a week day in the evening is now about 10 miles, at the weekend I aim for something about 20 miles.

Anything less than 10 is pointless really for building stamina, endurance etc.
When I started I could hardly go a few miles without stopping, can do at the most 10 now. Also I was fucked after 10 miles, now it just seems normal and easy.
I done 23 miles today and can feel it a bit, but my recovery is much better now.

Tbf all the rides I have done I generally feel fine with and could go longer, now I have an aim though I think it'll help me actually stay out longer.

How do those turbo trainer things work? Is it not just the same as a normal exercise bike?

Do some sportives in 2013. Will keep you motivated in the build up to your target in 2014 and you will find you push yourself a little harder as you have time standings.

When I started out I would just do little rides in the evenings and ride my bike to things I would normally drive to, football training, going to mates houses etc. then at the weekends I would go out on a Sunday morning and do pre determined routes and try to beat a time I had set myself. Then I would gradually up the ride distance. When the Evenings were lighter did try and do 30-40 mile routes a few times a week.

Just cycle basically, I don't think it requires a particular structure at the early stage. Set yourself a weekly mileage total then increase it by a bit after a few weeks. A rest week every now and the will do you no harm either, or T least an easier week!

I intend to do the purer 3 peaks challenge so 3 mountains + 480miles on a bike nothing like a challenge

record is 46.5 hours my aim is sub 60hours

thats my thoughts, year and half to train for it, thinking i should be ok need to ask my cousin actuall if he fancies it too

aslong as i complete it i will be happy but I am going with the aim of sub 60 hours and tbh it doesnt sound that hard.... obviously thinking about it and actually doing are 2 totally different things.

mountains to comfortably do it (according to site) should take
Ben nevis - 5 hours
Scafill (sp) - 4 hours
Snowdon - 4 hours
Total - 13hours

leaves 47 hours for cycling/sleeping so if i could average a speed of 12mph which doesnt sound too bad then that gives me 7hours sleep.

either that or proper push myself and go without sleep (or very little) will all see how it goes when training.

I did the three peaks last year immediately after I had done Lands End - John O'Groats. Do not under estimate those mountains. I found the walking down them so much harder than walking up them.

The times you quoted there are about what I did them in and that includes taking my clothes off for naked photos at the top of each Peak

Where abouts are you based? Could you set up a mini dry run of the challenge to do now, to see where you are fitness wise and then again later next year to gauge improvement etc?

I'm in stoke so snowdon isnt that far away from me, so i will be practicing on that one, just ben nevis is a bit far so dont think i would get chance to practice that one.

Just uploaded last ride onto Strava, not happy. I had to wait for 2 mates at the top of a hill, unfortunately I stopped short of where the Strava segment finished So I am near the bottom when I should be comfortably in the top half of the leader board.

Will have to go back and smash it on my own I think!

I can cycle there from my house

Edit: About 30 miles ish, wold love to get my fitness to cycle there, run up and down and cycle back. Can't see it happening quickly though.

I want to do the London - Brighton road ride too.

Do you HAVE to raise money when you do BHF rides? As I have a charity ride in June for a local/personal charity, I dont want to have to keep pestering people to sponsor me for something I love doing, I feel guilty.
