its a peace of mind thing. for 20 quid for the plates and an hour to weld them in. worth it all day long. i cant believe people say they dont need them. ever since i put the engine in that corsa i was worried about not having them.

in my last 2 turbos i didnt have plates, seam welded all seams of the engine bay did the job well

its not the bay thats the problem. its the front crossmember that takes all the braking and acceleration forces.

oh and i forget who it was, john c20xe maybe. dont fit 3" boost pipes for the love of god to a std engine. nothing wrong with 52mil boost pipes even at 300bhp.

3" boost pipes adds lag, same with fitting large intercoolers to std engines. they actually suffer a lot more.

just saw a intercooler pipe set on ebay for 60 quid but was 3 inch. fort it was a good deal, ill have a look for a smaller diameter set. 2 n half inch be ok?

Bigger pipes and intercooler will need a bigger turbo as they are gona take more time to fill and gain pressure hence 'TURBO LAG' as nic says it will suffer.

But its the first time ive had a look at tthe thread properly as im always on at work and the pics are blocked but it looks as the your doing a good job!!! Keep it up, its inspiring me even more to just build an engine up,

when i turn the key to start it, the lights flicker on the dash but it doesnt start or try to start if u get me?

earth! i had same on my previous acar after i swapped the engine!! Earth cable became loose on the starter motor and te car would do the same as yours!!!
