Good eyes Nic, Yep abit of derbies was in there, Gotta strip the head down as I want to find where that came from! I want to find the causes so i can prevent anything again....

One those things really, note to self.... Stand head/springs/platforms and 8k doesn't last long lol although I have done 2,000 miles in it this year already....

thought i could see it on the face of the head in number 2 hence asking.

surprised you didn't put double springs in etc actually. although saying that i ran on a std head on phase 4 with 7950 limiter for a few years.

Think the 8 k rev limit was to high and caused the problems,

And btw, no in my club yet mate need more failures for then,


Going to the big valve spec now mate ?

I didn't want to just do springs really.... there isn't any valve to piston contacted caused by valve float so its purely just locking out.... Maybe I was just unlucky then! ah well damage is done!

I agree it was high but it doesn't help that I do like to rev it that high all the time... lol oh well!!

TBH this has been my first major issue which isn't bad in 3 years and the engine hasn't been pulled apart for 15,000miles so generally speaking its done well...

Going to do full rebuild again tho for this spec as I was only on mahles etc, yer going to have big valve head, although i'm not chasing power like you! I'm happy where I am just reliability is the key for me

I had the same prob with vale caps i had a few that cracked on my xe but they were auto sprint one what ones were you running
