interesting choice ben, i dont have xenons either but have been looking at the philips diamond vision H7 bulbs which are bit cheaper then HIDs and claim a 5000k output, what made you got for HID's over these?

i was thniking of just getting the bulbs and matching sidelights and then not have the hassle come MOT time and Mr Plod aswell.

Only reason I went for hid's is because I had them in the puma (6000k) and the difference compared to upgraded headlight bulbs was amazing.

I'll be putting the ballast inside the headlamp housing using sticky foam. Won't take long to remove come mot time.

hadn't driven the car since saturday, and yesterday i moved it into the garage (on start-up it struggled a little).

went to start it up today and it sounded like it was going to start, then went dead

had to get my dad over to give me a jump start from a 1.2 fiesta, and it fired up first time without struggling.

the battery is 5 years old, but the red battery light has came on a few times over winter, suggesting the alternators on it's way out, i think.

bloody used cars was going to fit my HID kit today but i've run out of time now.

My Alarm pipped at me the other day as I started her up which apparently is a low battery warning.

Cold weather IMO.

Hopefully that's all it is. When I test drive the car before buying it, the red battery light came on but went off on the next start up. It only started doing it again around january time when it was very cold.

The previous owner only did 2-3k miles a year and it sat unused for months at a time, so hopefully changing the battery for a decent bosch one will sort it.

It's cheaper than a new alternator and if it does need one, then at least I know the battery is new.

Dogey alt could kill a new battery though, i'd get your dad to check the output of the alt first then you know for sure.
