agreed with that, i have been to a rolling road day where standard zetec s fiestas were pulling 120-125bhp! they then go on a different rolling road and get 100-110 bhp and say the lower reading is inacurate. my car is rr'd at 138bhp but has seen off corsas with more power more than once.

Proof is in the pudding

I'm still curious to get mine on a proper dyno, not a rolling road, but still 2 seperate rolling roads at 2 completely different places...

117.7bhp
117.4bhp

amazing how close both are if they are reading wrong...

Out of interest what was your torque figure?

not a great deal... 110 & 111 lb/ft...

broster - I'd be interested in RR'ing my GSi again against yours too

Even the 106 gti's with like 150 bhp only have about 123 lb ft of torque.

Just the downside of having a small engine capacity... lack of torque.

so the 8s more the corsa takes to get to 100mph is actually a myth.

Steve say..

apparently removing the seats and some interior of the corsa knocks 8s from the 0-100 time

Haven't read all the debating but a standard VTS will still be quicker than a stripped GSi.

But, a stripped GSi may be DRIVEN faster than a standard VTS. When comparing cars of similar power, its all down to the driver and whoever gets the power down first. If the GSi gets it down first, the VTS will always be chasing it.

I was playing with a Xsara VTS last week on serious twisties, was all over the back of him and near enough passing him in my 1.4 16v, so it just goes to show the car is as quick as it can be driven.

when the rear of my car was stripped out, it was pretty much a dead heat between mine and paul_J's (i hope he agrees!) and mine has a dbilas....so it seems suprising that a standard stripped out gsi would beat one.

(hadn't read the previous pages)

I disagree

The only true race off the line we had was off those lights where I fucked up the start and then put it into 2nd and it went CRUNCH....... and didn't engage at all... I'll give you another race some time now my exhaust is on.

I had a Vts and now have a 1.6 sport both of which I like(d) and am completly unbiased.
When I had my Vts I had a few races with Gsi's and I was pulled away easily.
As for the performance difference between my sport and my old Vts, very noticable!.

went from a 2.0lt corsa to a sxo vts, found the defference not very much as the power in the saxo is more useable. but more than the car its the driver that makes the difference

Aren't the VTS's close to 170bhp?

Anyway, this has turned into a typical argument and I can't believe I read the entire thread

this is silly.

VTR beats a 1.4 16v sport (i have one, my mate has one)

VTS beats 1.6 16v sport (my mates have them both)

VTS pulls away easilty all day long.

1.6 16v sport beats VTR, not VTS.

i have experience first hand of them all, driven them, been in passenger seat etc daily. tis the truth.
