Used it tonight, was'nt impressed just after i'd used the clay bar thing. Paint was nice and smooth but nothing that a good polish coul'nt achieve. After I polished it though, was very impressed paint is litterally like glass and is as shiny as its ever been.

Took a couple of pics but it does'nt show how shiny/smooth it really is, would'nt like to do it often though. Impressed now though, £12 well spent. Also bought a Meg's wash mit and magnet drying towel. Impressed with both of them too.

After using the clay bar and detail spray the paint won't be silky smooth. It removes contaminents and other little bits that most polishes/waxes will not remove.

As you said, it requires a polish and/or wax on top of it to get a really good finish.

Now that you've polished it, give it a wax too.

All this talk of you lot cleaning your cars is making me want to do mine, but it's really an all day job to do it properly and there are 101 other things that I need to do, lol.

Just finished doin the gti and its gleaming, didnt have a clay bar so just washed/dryed/polished/waxed it and its now got a glass finish, the dull red paint has really come up well, once its compound polished it'll look the nuts

The idea is to use the Meguiars detail spray with the claybar. Spray the area till there is a fine mist, then use the claybar. Wipe of the excess then apply the relevant polishes/waxes to the paintwork for the best results.

Thats the idea, although I clayed the other day, left the excess on then polished straight over. Saves time, a clean towel and doesnt make the finish any better.

Done the bonnet
Washed and dryed

Clay bar abd detailing spray
Then Megs quick wax on top

Done the touch test prior to using the bar and what a difference, paint is smooth now...

Quite impressed

Going to do whole car now

Do the black bits
Extra gloss protection..

Will need to do it all again saturday night though before the car show probably well not the bar just wash and wax..

Yeah, I do the same, but I was suggesting it that way for those that may not have had any polish/wax to immediatley apply on top.

Mav, take the detailer with you. Brings instant shine and smoothness to the paint when you arrive at the show.
