in this pic were the arm goes and joins the balljoint rod. if u are having trouble with 2nd and 4th straighten out the bend in it. also the cream bit of plastic just above the cv on the linkage. there meant to be a bit of the linkage that goes round that and a circlip holds it if u know what i mean. is it attached right as dont look like it is in the pic

2nd and 4th feel like there isnt much travel... i.e it feels like its just getting into gear.

Do you have any pics of what the linkage is supposed to look like?

One thing I found was the gears have to be really accurately aligned. It's worth using the correct sized drill bits to lock the selector and the stick as I just used an allen key and screwdriver like you and it didn't work very well.

Rear disks are not needed. They only do about 20% of the cars braking. Plus his car is so light at the back they would lock up really quickly.

the brakes.... when working correctly (bled) are very good. Just suffering from a spongey pedal just now. Still very good with spongey pedal but doesnt give as much confindance Could be still air in the system, or seals on the MS. Going to bleed again tomorrow with Gunson Eeeeeezibleed and see what that turns up.

All the weight is at the front of the car, so its where the brakes are needed!

The car is actually over braked at the rear just now! Too much bias and no bias adjuster in line yet.

300mm Discs, 4 pot calipers, Mintex 1155's and dot 5.1 fluid.

Adam I had the same problem with my corsa regarding the linkage, I just had to fiddle with it constantly, 5th was always the problem with mine.

Surely a linkage would be fairly cheap though? I can understand if you don't want to spend any more money though
