We were planning on having something like dark granite if we went for a wood kitchen...but I think with the black kitchen it will be too dark.

Sockets....yeah, we've had a look around for changing them, but all the brass ones these days have daft plastic bits around the holes and look so cheap

I think they look crap...but I suppose they will have to do.
Not cheap though....if you think that we've got 3 or 4 sockets and a light switch in that one room to be replaced....so about £40-50 for just one room! Doh

We'll have been in a month this weekend.
The front lounge has taken a while because of all the woodwork, the other rooms shouldn't take as long, although I am now thinking that I'd like the woodwork stripped in the kitchen! (There isn't as much to do in there though!)

there isnt...just the skirtings and the door.
the door and frame for the Aberdeen press aren't staying, and there isn't a picture rail, or funny round things on the corners or a massive mantelpiece....
it'll be easy compared to the lounge

the lounge had 1 coat of varnish....

This room has the X coats of varnish, undercoat, cream gloss, then another on top of that.

donation from Adam's folks...it's just in just now to protect the floors. We need to put another coat or two of varnish on them to toughen them but wont do that until after the windows have been replaced.

that fire palce you took out, if you strip the paint off is it marble under it?
in the 60/70's they used to paint them, then over the next 30 yrs ppl forgot what the were and kept painting them. the fire harth needs stripping them ZEBO black leading

any more pix of the ornate ceiling + coving???

lookimg nice.

the bathroom suits look like what you buy now, just change the taps to something more modern.
