lies that was a 1.4 quicksilver with gti wheels onit. lol
106 gti would kill a 1.6 gsi, i raced a 106 gti, honda prelude, and me in my shitty 1.4 corsa sport, dont ask why i joined the race, i just had an urge lol,,,,,,neway the gti was infront and the prelude up its arse (and me with my binoculars way back watching) lol so yeh gti's are fast like saxo VTS's basically same cars and ive driven a VTS

i did actually beat a 106 GTI coming off a roundabout on a duel carriage way in my GSI.
i had the advantage as i was catching them up and already had a bit more speed but they didnt pass me up to 95MPH
but no one would have it. i think everyones thoughts were.
"the 106 must have stayed in fifth gear"
"the person driving must have been about 70 years old"
etc etc. but everyone on this vauxhall enthusiast site is so hyped up and defensive over a fucking peugeot 106.
alot of people on this site need to get a fucking grip
IMO....

serious question here.paul how come a corsa with an 150 bhp xe and a full interior in it can do a 14.9 1/4 yet yours with 160bhp and a lighter shell can only do 14.8?

I never owned a 106 gti
But i know from first hand experience that EVERY time it would spank a gsi, even one with a inlet and everything which i owned and got beat time and time again by my mate in his 106 gti.
PS - My ibiza isnt a barge

Rob you owned a VTS! it's the same car
Rob come on track at combe, and we'll see who's car handles better. You said to me on msn your mate you were racing his back end was twitching all over the place... Firstly a looser rear end (more oversteery car = better handling / controlable than a unresponsive understeering car) and secondly sounds like he was lifting off / braking mid bend unsettling the car, he should of kept constant power throughout the bend (But not too much) to maintain even weight distribution and not unsettling the car... off topic tho... maybe this would've been better over msn or u2u since it's what we were talking about the other day.

i know its the same car but i just didnt want to bring VTS's in to it.
I know a 106 will handle better, but that doesnt mean mine is a barge..

my mate said this about it on facebook
glanza has too much boost going through front wheels, front wheel cars were not made for Turbo power, just N/A, 4 wheel drive is where turbo should be, to be honest a gti-r isnt a hatchback in the same league as a small sport hatch eg saxo / 106, corsa can be good, but still even a sri isnt that quick, and a red top just doesnt turn. 106's and vts's are awesome for handling, get a nice drop, cams, exhaust, remap and you will be looking at a type r beater. Obv evo / scooby are better at handling, but they are 4 wheel drive rally cars what do u expect? spend 20k on a gti and i am sure it will easily beat any evo / scooby, you seen bic's 106 gti? (look it up on youtube) that's had over 60k thrown at it, and that is by far, one of the best track cars you can buy.
106's and Saxo's will always be a regualr sight on a track, beacause spend 1k or so and you will have a track car that is not only quick, but very fun to drive. parts are also cheap. No matter what cars are on track there will always be a little french bullet. and no matter how badly made the drivetrain is they will always be populair for a good thrashing..... just a shame about all the 1.1's with lexus lights. I mean, they could save up for a nice 16v with 708's and a nice set of 45 webber bodies couldnt they??
Thats my 2 pence anyway mate,
