What was it that you posted in your original progress thread then, when we were debating the write off thing?

In all honesty i can can that i done the same thing.i bought my current car in june this year and did not receive the log book untill early august.only reason being the owner had just got out of hospital from a heart operation so i gave him abit of space to find the v5.1 thing i did make sure of was that i had the new owner slip and some proof of who the previous owner was (name, address, contact number) just incase i got pulled over...

it came through the post though so i wasn't too fussed

Tbf that is nothing like the same thing, you knew he had a V5 and actually took away a New Keeper supplement, for all Doyle knew when he bought it this could've been recorded as scrapped, stolen, a write off and yet he still bought it without so much as a receipt, just a woman's word that she owns it

That text check verifies that the reg is OK but it doesn't tell you that the car outside your house is the same car. If its stolen and cloned, it'll look fine on a HPI and won't be obvious unless you check the VIN number. Which without a V5, you can't do.

Get the receipt as soon as possible in person. Tell her you need to piss so you can go inside the house. A bit of cheekiness will save you losing the car if it turns out to be funny.

If you're not brave enough, send someone who is. Otherwise you're risking lots of money just because you're a bit green and shy.

It should just say 'RETARD' in bright red capital letters and then be stapled onto your forehead with a nail gun and some 8" nails.
