You need to decide what you want from a car firstly. If you want fun then i'd go for a Corsa B and spend what you save on the Corsa C on suspension, stereo etc. If you want a new cheap car that is not going to cause you problems then get a Punto.
I had a Corsa C 1.4 SXI and is one of the best cars i've owned. Handled well standard and was ok on a run comfortability wise. Sold mine as i needed a car to commute and this didn't provide the image i wanted.
Engines do become very tappy, gear linkage aint the best and steering racks go on the earlier models.
Good cars as a toy and look good as standard. The 1.3 diesel has some serious turbo lag and would avoid if possible.

No, the reason I have a diesel is because I do 300 miles a week for work, a lot of my friends live a good 20+ miles away. THe other other option for a bit of power was a 25MPG 1.4 petrol turbo, which is no good becuase I don't want to be sinking half of my wages after bills into my petrol tank when I don't get there any quicker. When I move closer to work/get a job closer to home I'll think about going back to a petrol.
The money i'm saving will go eventually towards a weekend car or something else that I want.

hmmm strange to see the 1.3cdtis getting some bad reviews, I've always quite liked them - driven both 69/90bhp versions

my misses has a sxi 1.2 and am not sure if this is common in all c's but a have never heard of b's needin steering racks and columns as often as the c's . . . .her's needed a rack and a column at the same time and the garage bill was tottaling up to over 1k but luckly was under warranty. . . . i also find the throttle response is terrible though i have never driven an sri . anyone agree ?

I have had 4 B's and now have a Corsa C SRI (1.8) And i think it is soooo much better.It handle's better,Looks nicer,Easier to drive,Better driving position i love it.I also think the interior looks much nicer.I have Full Heated Leather Interior though so of course it's going to be nicer (I do wish that the Front Seats where more padded though)
I must say though i do have a hell of a lot of rattles but im putting this down to the last owner living on a Farm and having it lowered 60mm on B springs which makes it around 70 possibly 80mm and the ride was ROCK HARD and therefore HAS rattled the trims to peices.

not sure I agree with that, the b interior does look quite dated now... still much nicer than other cars it's age mind

The B is seriously outdated now. I would agree the C looks a bit more plasticy, but the B just looks properly old fashioned.

I don't think the C is plasticy at all. At least it has a bit of texture and you can push it in slightly. Corsa B interior could be made out of Lego it's so plasticy.

Don't forget there is a fair amount of snobbery on here still atm which is amusing (ie. 90% of people on here haven't actually owned a C so only make comments based on what they see or hear rather than have experienced first hand)

i love my C. i had a 12v B and now have a 1.4 facelift sri.
handles very well, even in comparison to the saxo vts i just got rid of, but it is on pirelli p zero's compared to budgets on the sax. the ride is firm yet comfortable and really still drives with that solid feel of a new car (just had a corsa d for a month as well) the steering on mine doesnt feel light or over assisted at all but it has got 16's on low profiles.
mines on 75k and doesnt have a single interior rattle, it feels so well built compared to the B and has nice touches like air con, electric mirrors and steering controls for the radioand stuff.
erm, mpg is about 30 around town but i dont drive like a granny
