I want some of them draggings jeans, i just have textiles at the moment, dont really use the bike that much, and I cant afford leathers (not decent ones anyway). My boots are uncomfy clunky things so I tend not to wear them Want some decent boots that feel like trainers, apparently AlpineStars feel like this.....
Dont think I would ever be comfy in leathers, I dont like anything tight and get really uncomfortable, thats the worst thing on a bike, when youve got a front wedgie at 80mph

I have some Alpinestars SMX Plus's. Yeah they're mega comfy, but they took well over a couple of years to break in. Had them 6 years, and they're like slippers now. But i'm going to need another set after this year i think.
Off the peg leathers are difficult to get right, but made to fit ones like Crowtree's are mint. I can't afford them atm, so i get my off the peg ones altered to suit.
I've got some draggin Jeans, and for popping round the block they're fine. But i wouldn't like to crash at speed in them. Fall onto your knees in normal jeans and it hurts like hell. Draggin's are around the same thickness, so imagine falling off a bike. yeah its going to kill! The ad's show them being dragged at 80 on your arse, but how often do you simply slide off onto your arse? And what happens when your sliding feet first and the trouser leg pulls up? Bare skin on tarmac. No thanks! I've crashed at over 100mph (on tracks) in my leathers and always walked away fine without any burns or cuts/scrapes. Type into Youtube, Shinya Nakano 200mph crash and see how good leathers really are.

When she tugs off my helmet?
Ooooo arrrrrr missy
I need to go back there, that place is just pure awesomeness
Jimmy, Nakanos crash, I remember that, pure hell, but the boy was so lucky. Perfect example of why I don't mind looking like a power ranger.
Mind you, don't help too much when your heading towards a post

Who cares if it has rock hard race setup suspension, a tiny fuel tank and huge thirst for fuel even on mild throttle.
Turn it on, THUMP THUMP THUMP, bags of torque, and doesn't need 900000rpm to get it going.
This is a debate against modern sports bikes these days. All about numbers, not so much the passion.
God that bikes clean, nursing a semi!!
Ive never agreed with anything you have said more, I have modern sports bikes, I love the 90s shape blade, the 90s shape 196 / 996 the ealry RSV`s the SP1 and the Firestorm before it, the blackbird the first shape R1 and the ZX7 I could go on...
V-Twins are where its at, my dad had a VTR1000 Firestorm the noise it made and the way it went from low down in any gear was fabulous 100 miles to a tank of fuel when riding it hard wasnt so good though

I travelled from Kent to Swansea to look at a Firestorm last summer. Very nice ride, as you say, 2000rpm, and still pulled hard. Wasn't as "spotless" as advertise though. Backed out as he wouldn't drop the price enough, reckons he could sell it well easy at his asking price.
1 month later, i got a call "ok i'll take your offer"
Nahh its ok thanks, got another bike now

i would argue that the sp1 is more of a develop of looks from the rc30, rc41, vfr etc and not a revolutionally looking bike

SP1/2 is a totally different bike, only similarity is they were both born for the track. V4 vs V-twin, normal mouted rad vs side mounted rad, single swinging arm vs conventional.
RE TL1000, yeah, known for a little bit of a tank slapper, but this is easily fixed on the rear (bn the rotary damper for a conventional one), and the TL's were recalled to have a front damper fitted.
But I think the "widowmaker" claims were vastly over-rated, it wasn't that bad, only got really bad when pushed on the road or when quickly changing direction.

i still dont think the sp1 is a revolutionary looking bike though bits of VFR, RC and NC31 in there

I agree, its not revolutionary in terms of looks, but compared to todays bikes that all look exactly the same it excites me more.
Don't know why, its a lot more straight, less curves and a lot more simple, but for me that works better.
Same way I prefer the straight tailed RS250 over the later more areodynamic round tail RS250 (or Ducati 851/888).

Going back to the Kevlar jeans, i have the E-Squad jeans which are made with armalith.
There's some videos about of someone being dragged along the road behind a car in these, normal jeans and leather's and these hold up rather well.
Rather comfy and have internal pockets for armour too

Why?
I love this fact.
Spent tens of thousands on a car thats 1/10th as fast as the bike? Or buy a cheap economical car, and have a few bikes that will outpace a Porsche Turbo?
