this is so true, you need to get coilovers/high poundage suspension that can handle the engine, mine handled like a sack of shit

truth right there.
Mine handles great and it has heavier gearbox. Internet rumours are wrong.
would change ure gmax springs and shocks and get a decent set of coilovers and heavy duty springs and get the suspension set up all my corsas with xe's or lets have been set up and havnt had issues with handling
fail on my part ^

hi. the chasis of a corsa is pretty much the same as a 1979 vauxhall nova. not sure why this in standard forrm should be compared to something modern like a civic?
you would have to make mods to old cars to make them handle like new ones. its not exactly a revelation that is it?
if corsas are so bad compared to this ctr you speak of, why are there far more of them used in rallying? etc etc. surely if they dont handle that well, they wouldnt be using them so much?

i think the internet lies to people and tells them that you cant get a corsa to handle. its all rumours off people that have never bothered to try.

People saying VTS/106 felt twitchy, that doesn't mean the car doesn't handle well.
People saying my astra felt like it handled better, again it didn't, you just felt like you were more in control.
Nic's car handled alright at Oulton from what i saw.

those pirelli cut slicks ive got were bloody awesome. tyres can dramatically affect the way a car handles as well as other things.

Nic - if you read the thread properly, hes the one that compared to a civic type r..... Not me
Maybe the fact ep3s arent used as widely in rallying is:
A. Engine size/class
B. Cost of car
C. Keeping it in vtec is a challenge sometimes
Take your pic

You say it's the XE's that cause corsas to handle badly - maybe it's the fact that if you only had a 1.4 so you couldn't get up enough speed to not be able to go round a corner? For all these people claiming that Corsas with XE/ LETs can't handle - if you put each car round a track for a timed lap which would be faster? Answer's pretty obvious so where do people get this thing that a smaller engine is better??

ok john lets take a different step i also have no trouble sitting on my mates arse in my mk4 astra gsi, which AS YOU SAY is not regarded as a well handling car............................... still sits on the arse of me mates civic once again.......
end of the day im not slating the civic im just using it as a prime example as they are the fastest best handling car in the universe so i thought they would be a good example to use......
fact is if a late 70's design chassis with 1k spent on it woth regard to suspension/handling aids along with a late 80's engine with 50bhp less can sit on the arse of a ctr one does have to think the corsa is bad but not as bad as people make out just face it...... not to mention the mods ive done to my corsa have been done by me HONDA spend hundreds of millions i bet on prototype testing etc etc with an army of computers and people
not to mention a sport corsa list price would have been probably 6-7-8-9k cheaper than a standard civic
problem is they will never be a good handling car so long as people fit g-max shocks and springs with a 2.0 which to me seems to be the case and the problem so john keep ya badge mate

to be honest im guilty over the g-max c20xe thing myself corsa handled shocking.......
