I think the saddest thing is that he wasnt able to announce actually how ill he really was.
Of course it was expected, but certainly not this quickly.
I think had he announced he was only a few weeks away from death, it would have drove shares down.
I think the points above about not actually inventing something are valid, but what they have done is designed/marketed something in a unique way thats changed the course of mankind, on more than one occasion.

Don't think it has to be anything to do with shares.
Some people, even in his position, are quite happy not having private lives broadcast every 2 minutes.
He probably just wanted to spend a few weeks in peace with his family.

OF course it was to do with shares John, I don't think it got to the media that he was on his last legs but if it did then everyone would be like oh shit! and the stock would make a move down I reckon.

Had to google the guy to find out who he was. It's sad when anyone dies but fed up of hearing about it now.

I find all this apple obsession most strange.
I use apple products but only because I find them slightly better than the competitors. Same way I find sky better than the competitors but I won't be shedding a tear when Murdoch dies lol
RIP to this Steve chap, not really sure what he did to incapsulate so many people but it seemed to work

The internet is completely wasted on you Ben if you don't even know who Steve Jobs is, that internet could go to some kid in Africa.

Was always on his last legs when he publicly stood down.
It would have affected the stocks, I'd like to think some of humanity isn't completely focused on that though.

The difference is that Murdoch is evil.

You're right, he didn't (IIRC it was Davy that did) but no one in this thread said he did.
Either way, I still don't see how Jobs can be compared to (as Michael Bloomberg stated) likes of Einstein.

I really dont understand why everyone is acting like this is something that has happened that is really close to there heart.
As with any death its a tragic loss, and the guy can be thought of in great stead for what he did to Apple, but all this hype is yet another example of fanboyism at its greatest

Basically iPhone users thinking they own some sort of talisman, and that the creator must have been god, is where this stems from

HP made a tablet years ago but the owner (cant remenber his name) thought it was a stupid idea/product so it was never released.
