First 30 minutes was a bit weird, but very well put together. The rest was just awesome.
Not sure how well it will go down with the rest of the world though, not that I GAF.

Never usually watch the opening ceremonies but it was truly amazing, fully enjoyed it. The stand out parts were the rings being forged, bond and bean. Can see the stadium from my bedroom window too so watched the fireworks at the end.

The founder of the Olympics is French. French was also the 'worlds language' even though it's English now. It goes French, English then host nations Language
I thought it was fantastic. A right bunch of unappreciative bastards on my Facebook. Did start weird but once I knew what was gong on it was excellent.

I was thinking about the announcements, if they did English first it would be like an anticlimax as we would find out what's going on then have to sit through the French version announcement, would take the impact out the Annnouncement

The BBCHD audio feed was all over the shop. Bass was dropping in and out. Its as if they can't do a live events every well, it was exactly the same at the jubilee party.
As for the ceremony. Mixed feelings. At first did not quite get it, then thought it was very clever. The music section was OK but the performers were all over the place, even when they were meant to be forming a shape it just looked like a crowd of people dancing at a concert.
The torch part was very clever - The way the torch was lit was very good and the way it was linked to all the petals that came in with the teams etc.
Did not really like the Ali section. He looked like he did not have a clue what was going on and a bit of a vegetable..very sad. The memory of him lighting the flame in Atlanta should have been his olympic history not this role IMO
As for "I'm going to kill my songs till I die" Mccartney. OK he is one of our greatest artists but he needs to realise his voice is not good enough any more.

Because French and English are the official languages of the Olympics games for the modern era and I believe at all Olympic games it's French, English and then the language of the host country.
We just foot the bill for the games, we don't own it.

The Olympics is the brain child of a French man and it is the way it has always been.
But bravo for attempting to have a dig

The American broadcast has cut out the 7/7 memorial part and the Canadian broadcast cut out the NHS part for some reason

The two official languages of the Olympics are French and English. Everything gets announced in French and then English no matter where they are being held.

My favourite part....

That was clever whilst looking
Also loved the hand over of the touches to the young athletes, nice little message to send out to the world that the games is greater than 'one single legend' and the aim of the London Olympics to inspire
9.5/10 - much better than I thought it was going to be
