Thing with cycling is you have to cover great distances compared to running. I can go run round my village or to do similar workout on the bike it would probably be 20 miles compared to a 5k run. I'm just estimating roughly basing on endomondo and strava logging. For me, I struggle to run, but can bike forever, hence attempting to run!

depends how you ride as you can also free wheel etc when going down hill or straight on a bike whereas you are always moving when running. Best thing is in my opinion is like anything else, do both, mix it up a bit.

I suppose it all depends on speed, distance etc that you are doing. When training for a specific run/goal I haven't ever run more than 5 times in a week.
What I would recommend is running most of your runs about 1 1/2 - 2 mins per mile slower than your faster/speed sessions. It's beneficial to just get out there and get distance in your legs.

When training for my half I was doing:
10miles Sunday morning
5k Tuesday night
10k Thursday.
Decent couple of rest days between long workouts that way.
Less important if you're only doing 5k mind.

I'm aiming to try and do the Cumbrian run, and also possibly a duathlon this year. Ideally need to run over 10 miles which I know I could manage, 5k is just an easy short loop in the dark sort of around my village.

i never run consecutive days, my current marathon training plan only does 3 days a week with 2 other days cross training.

my current plan is monday wednesday friday are gym days doing the weights etc. tuesday and thursday i was going to use as running days, saturday and sunday generally I'm on the mtb.
perhaps i need to try and add another day of running in there?

7:21 new fastest mile today, although the rest of the run was a disaster. Had beans, scrambled egg and Cumberland sausage on toast at about 12 ish don't think I had digested it properly. I reckon I might see a sub 7 min mile in a month or 2.

I run a lot, did 5 marathons, 2 ultras and countless other 10k's and halfs last year.
The key to success is consistency and not being afraid to run on tired legs.
Im in the middle of training for the Manchester Marathon but my main focus is Thunder Run 24 and the Ladybower 50 later in the year.
If anyone wants any tips feel free to ask

Since I've had a bad cold I've struggled to run, times have been really slow. Gotta keep at it. Mental running 20 miles though!! I only biked 10 this morning and that was hard enough

I'm getting back on it on Monday having only run twice since the 1st December. I'm going to set a few target times over several distances, with the main aim being the Reading Half Marathon next year.

Got out again twice this week, grounds dried a little and some warmer weather.

ive entered the cumbrian run this year, so if anyone has any training tips etc they could share it would be great! its a half marathon, i did 10 miles last week but I've been dead since so need to prepare for it better
